The History of the Inn

In 1772, German immigrant Lewis Derr bought 320 prime acres of land near the Susquehanna River where he opened a mill and an Indian trading post. When this became successful, he began plans for a town. Eighty years later, the town was so prosperous that it was named the county seat. Mr. Derr's town, called Lewisburg, attracted eminent architect, Louis Palmer, who was commissioned to design an elegant, Federal-style home in 1857. The home was built on the main street, alongside numerous other prominant buildings. In 1985 it became known as the Pineapple Inn.
